IMPORTANT: CHANGES TO VET ACCREDITATION COURSES AND APAV REGISTER

The Accreditation Program for Australian Veterinarians (APAV) and Australian Government Accredited Veterinarian (AAVET) training courses will transfer to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) from 1 July 2026.

DAFF intends to host APAV training for the purposes of obtaining Australian Government Accredited Veterinarian Course (AAVet) and Embryo Transfer Veterinarian (ETV) Approval only.

From 1 July 2026, information about these courses and the accreditation processes for AAV and ETV will be available on the DAFF website.

Animal Health Australia will no longer maintain the APAV register after 30 June 2026. DAFF will accept previous certificates of course completion as evidence of APAV and AAVet training. An APAV number will no longer be required.

AHA will continue to deliver the Market Assurance Program (MAP) training program and maintain associated resources to support veterinarians in meeting MAP requirements. From 1 July 2026 veterinarians servicing SheepMAP flocks will no longer be required to complete APAV training or hold APAV accreditation. As the new arrangements are finalised information will be provided to MAP certified veterinarians and reflected on the AHA MAP website.
